We worked with psychologists and to translate lecture-based teaching content into a multi-media teaching tool. Each presenter came with their own content, but the video and graphical elements were needed to create the immersive environment. This project required a team to implement the different design, video, code and pedagogy involved in each lesson, and the work flow needed to be streamlined for efficient production.

Milestones

Producer. Camera. Editor.

We wanted to get away from overly-staged scenarios and psychological experiments. Children are learning and developing all the time, in every situation. We followed nine families and two day care facilities to track physical, cognitive and social development as these occur in these everyday environments. The resulting videos are intimate and charming portraits of children achieving important stages of development.

Encounters

Assistant Producer. Camera. Editor.

These films create empathetic portraits of people who suffer from mental illness. Our goal was to humanize the list of symptoms students encounter in a textbook and contextualize the illness in a life-narrative. Educational documentaries often rely heavily on voice-over and create excessive distance between the subject and viewer. Instead, we let the subjects tell their own story so the viewer could find places to relate.
